Paris 2022: COVID-19 Update

Tour Update - 31/01/2022

This page provides those attending The Europa Cup Paris 2022 with an update on COVID-19 – last updated 31/01/2022.

To control the rising levels of COVID-19 over the winter period, France were only allowing essential travel to the country. However from 14th January 2022, France eased COVID travel restrictions meaning essential reasons are no longer required for travelling to the country (i.e the country has re-opened to tourists) for fully vaccinated people.

IMPORTANT – A 10 day self-isolation period and essential reason (not tourism) is currently required to enter France for unvaccinated adults age 18 and above. For individuals aged 16 and above, a Vaccine Pass (proof of full vaccination) is also mandatory for access to leisure & entertainment facilities.

With the ever-changing landscape, the current Government guidelines are likely to change again and we invite you to refer to the UK Government and France Diplomacy websites to view the full and most up to date COVID information.

What are the current requirements to enter France?

IF FULLY VACCINATED:
1. Present a negative PCR or antigen test result 24 hours pre-departure if aged 12 years and over
2. Complete a ‘sworn statement’ (déclaration sur l’honneur) to confirm no symptoms of COVID.

IF NOT FULLY VACCINATED / UNVACCINATED:
1. Travel for essential reasons only is currently permitted (tourism not permitted)
2. Present a negative PCR or antigen test result 24 hours pre-departure if aged 12 years and over
3. Complete a ‘sworn statement’ (déclaration sur l’honneur) to confirm no symptoms of COVID.
4. Self isolate for 10 days upon arrival to France

Ages 16 and above: A Vaccine Pass is MANDATORY to access most leisure venues (proof of full vaccination)
Ages 12-15: A Health Pass is MANDATORY to access most leisure venues (full vaccination/proof of negative PCR test)
Ages 0-11: Complete a ‘sworn statement’ (déclaration sur l’honneur) to confirm no symptoms of COVID

What counts as fully vaccinated?

The French Government recognises the following vaccines: Pfizer, Moderna, Oxford/AstraZeneca, and Johnson & Johnson (the vaccines recognised by the European Medical Agency). “Fully vaccinated” is defined by the completion of a vaccination schedule, specifically:

1 week after the second dose of Pfizer, Moderna, Oxford/AstraZeneca
4 weeks after the single and only dose of Johnson & Johnson
1 week after the single dose of any of the above vaccines if you have previously tested positive for COVID-19

To obtain a “pass vaccinal” (vaccine pass), adults who have been fully vaccinated for more than FOUR months before travel date need to demonstrate they have received an approved COVID-19 booster injection

Do children need to be vaccinated?

The same measures applied to vaccinated adults are applied to any minors (under 18) who are travelling with them, whether vaccinated or not. Therefore, if an unvaccinated child arrives in France with a vaccinated adult, they may follow the rules of entry for those who are fully vaccinated. Children 12-17 who are travelling with fully vaccinated adults do not need to be fully vaccinated themselves.

For unvaccinated minors, they must follow the same procedures as unvaccinated adults. i.e negative PCR/allergen test, self-isolate for 10 days on arrival, sworn statement, provide essential reason for travel

Children under 12 are exempt from all COVID-19 travel restrictions, but must still complete a ‘sworn statement’.

16 and above year olds are required to be fully vaccinated to gain a Vaccine Pass which is mandatory in France to access entertainment and leisure venues.

Are there any special COVID restrictions in France?

The UK is currently on France’s “Red List” for arrivals into the country. This means unvaccinated are only permitted to travel for essential reasons (tourism is not an essential reason) and must self-isolate on arrival to the country for 10 days.

On 24 January 2022, the “pass vaccinal” (vaccine pass) was implemented by the French government which is now required for access to most leisure venues (ages 16 and above only). Adults who have been fully vaccinated for more than FOUR months before travel date need to demonstrate they have received an approved COVID-19 booster injection in order to access the “pass vaccinal” in France. If you have received your full vaccination less than four months before travel, a booster is not required.

For minors aged 12-15, a Health Pass must be presented in order to gain access to leisure venues. A Health Pass consists of proof of a negative PCR/allergen test or proof of full vaccination.

Is a booster jab required?

Under the conditions of the “pass vaccinal” (vaccine pass), a booster jab is required for adults 18 and over who have received their full COVID-19 vaccination more than 4 months before the travel date. If a full vaccination was received less than 4 months before the travel date, a booster jab is not required.

What happens if someone from my tour party tests positive for COVID-19 before or during the tour?

If someone tests positive, they must follow the government guidelines in place at the time (i.e isolation). Any costs associated to this will be reclaimable via their travel insurance policy.

Do I need travel insurance?

All individuals travelling on the tour to Paris should purchase travel insurance as per a normal holiday. We strongly advise purchasing a travel insurance policy which includes COVID-19 cover. This will enable you to reclaim costs associated with COVID-19 (i.e testing positive and isolation). To view various travel insurance providers and further information on COVID-19 cover, we recommend using websites such as www.moneysupermarket.com/travel-insurance/coronavirus/

What if someone wants to cancel their place?

Please note all deposits paid are non-refundable and a cancellation fee may apply. Please visit https://theeuropacup.com/terms/ for full cancellation terms and conditions.

Advice from Precision Pass Ltd (Tour Organisers)

All countries around the world have been putting in place measures to safeguard the population from COVID-19 and allow life to be enjoyed as normal.

Given the ever changing climate & Government policies, we recommend regularly checking the UK Government foreign travel information website and France Diplomacy website to keep up to date with the latest changes (we will also communicate any significant changes affecting your tour). For specific COVID-19 related questions, you are able to contact the French Consulate (located in London) on 0131 285 6038.

Although restrictions may further ease come the time of your tour, it is prudent to base our recommendations on France’s current COVID policies. We STRONGLY RECOMMEND for members of your tour party to be fully vaccinated so they are able to enter France and safely enjoy their tour experience. There is currently a VERY HIGH RISK come May 2022 of not being able to enter France/participate in The Europa Cup for those who are unvaccinated.

Travel insurance including a COVID-19 policy must also be obtained by all members of your tour party so you are able to recover costs in the unfortunate circumstance of a positive COVID-19 test. You should also ensure every member of your tour party travelling to France holds a valid passport.

In the event of a government lockdown which restricts travel between the UK and France, your 100% COVID Money-Back Guarantee provided by Precision Pass will offer you a choice of a refund or Credit Note + priority to re-book.
